Terry Beckstrom

Terry Beckstrom worked in corporate sales before beginning a career with the U.S Department of Justice in 1991. Terry spent over 25 years as a special agent and supervisory special agent investigating international criminal organizations at the highest levels. Terry held domestic assignments in the Atlanta and Miami Field Divisions, and completed temporary assignments in Europe, the Caribbean, and Asia. Terry enjoyed a highly successful and distinguished career which included assignments working international smuggling, complex conspiracies, criminal interdiction, dignitary protection, counter-terrorism, and organized crime. Terry finished his career leading one of the most successful and award-winning task force groups in DOJ history. Terry is a recognized security and nonverbal communication expert and sought after dynamic speaker and trainer, who has trained thousands of people both domestically and internationally. Terry has trained federal, state and local law enforcement, the military, college students and corporate groups on topics including: Body language, operational and personal security, situational awareness, and behavioral profiling. Terry received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina-Columbia, attended graduate school at Florida International University, and holds certificates in Executive Leadership and Advanced Negotiations from Cornell University and The Harvard Negotiation Institute, at Harvard Law School respectively. Terry is the author of two acclaimed books; LivesSafe, A Practical Guide to Personal and Family security, and Spoken Silently, The Art and Practice of Reading People. Additionally, Terry has written numerous published articles on body language, security, and leadership, and has been featured in magazine and news publications. Terry is the founder and CEO of The Beckstrom Group, LLC, which specializes in professional development training for corporations, law enforcement and the military, and security threat analysis.
